Many women begin to experience vulvovaginal discomfort with age and the subsequent changes to hormonal balances. In some cases, this discomfort can be quite debilitating and we find that a lot of women can suffer in silence. NewGyn offers a non-hormonal solution to address these concerns and allow you to feel your best again in just a few treatments.
NewGyn is an injectable polynucleotide and hyaluronic-acid based gel which can improve vaginal itching, irritation, soreness, dryness and the loss of tone and elasticity in the vulvo-vaginal area. As a result, it can lessen general discomfort and help to make sexual intercourse less painful too.
Here at RejuvaMed Health and Wellness, Dr Helen, a GP and Women’s Health specialist, is one of the first practitioners in the North West to offer this innovative treatment. Elizabeth, who has recently received a course of this treatment with Dr Helen, has very kindly chatted to us about her experience, her reasons for choosing the treatment and the results she has received.
Elizabeth – NewGyn Polynucleotides Patient with Dr Helen
What was your initial motivation for undergoing this treatment?
“I was really suffering. When I first started the menopause, I suffered with vaginal atrophy due to the decrease in hormones. At the time, unfortunately, my GP was not keen on prescribing HRT and I was given steroid creams which made no difference. Eventually I managed to convince her to prescribe me an estrogen cream and subsequently testosterone which both helped but never fully cured the problem. The area was still sore and the irritating itch never went away. It got to a point where it was sore when I was walking. I would frequently wake up in the night subconsciously scratching which made the area very tender and sometimes bleed. My quality of life and sleep was hugely affected by this problem and unfortunately, I think I had become to learn to live with it”.
Did you have any initial concerns prior to the treatment?
“I knew it would be uncomfortable but I was willing to try it in a hope it would help me. During the treatment itself, there is discomfort but I have a high pain threshold and just hoped it would be all worth it in the end”.
How do you feel now, and how have you found your results after the final treatment?
“I’m glad it is all done. I have had a course of 6 treatments and I have to say I didn’t look forward to each treatment, but it has been all worth it! After the 2nd or 3rd treatment I started sleeping through the night, which I haven’t in years! The itching has subsided, and Dr Helen has said that the area looks healthy again. It has been worth it for the results”.
How have you found treatment with Dr Helen?
“Dr Helen is so lovely, she really made me feel at ease. Of course, you are very exposed during the treatment but Helen never made me feel uncomfortable, she is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I would highly recommend her as a practitioner.”
What advice would you give to anyone who may be suffering with the same concern?
“Prevention is better than cure. Do not let the symptoms affect your life like it had mine. Seek treatment from a knowledgeable & experienced professional sooner rather than later. For the first 24 hours post treatment, I personally found the area was tender and itchy, but it subsided very quickly, and my symptoms started to improve straight away.”
Would you recommend RejuvaMed and Dr Helen’s services to others? If so, why?
“Definitely. Dr Helen and all the staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable. The clinic is always clean and everyone is so friendly.”
