CO2 Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Treatments
Vaginal rejuvenation is now one of the fastest-growing cosmetic procedures in the world.
At RejuvaMed Health & Wellness & Vein Centre, we offer 3D Vjuve CO2 laser vaginal rejuvenation treatments.
CO2 laser vaginal rejuvenation is not a new concept – it has been used in gynaecology for over 30 years for the treatment of the vagina, vulva, cervix and perineum and published articles have hailed the treatments’ success in treating vaginal atrophy, laxity, dryness and in improving stress incontinence and urinary leakage (those ‘oops’ moments!). CO2 laser vaginal rejuvenation also helps to restore the correct pH balance within the vagina by eliminating unhealthy bacteria and infectors. All these effects can also improve dyspareunia (painful sex) giving improvements to your sex life also.

How CO2 Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Works
3D Vjuve is a minimally invasive procedure which does not require any incisions or surgery. It is used for the treatment of vaginal atrophy, improvements in mucosa and laxity of vaginal walls, improvements in mild to moderate stress incontinence and the rejuvenation of external genitalia. Results depend on many factors such as age, patient health, tissue health prior to treatment, and compliance with pre and post-treatment instructions.
During the treatment, fractional photothermolysis is used to target problematic areas and healthy tissue is left in between these sections to allow for better healing and recovery. This method offers several benefits over traditional resurfacing including faster recovery, minimal side-effects, greater patient comfort and more predictable and successful outcomes.
Frequently Asked Questions on CO2 Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation:
What areas can be treated?
Is it safe and does it hurt?
Prior to treatment, a topical local anaesthetic is applied to the external treatment areas to maximise patient comfort.
During the treatment, patients may experience a heat sensation and slight discomfort. Often the internal application to treat the vaginal wall causes more of a vibration sensation rather than pain, although treatment settings can be altered to make the treatment more comfortable if required.
Are there any side effects?
On occasion, patients may experience some bleeding or discharge post-treatment which shouldn’t require any treatment and resolves within 24-48 hours. It’s not uncommon to also experience a watery vaginal discharge after the treatment which may last for several days.
A patch test on the inner thigh is also carried using the laser during the consultation.
How many treatments are required?
A course of 3 treatments at 4 weekly intervals often delivers the best results. However, every individual is different, and your practitioner will recommend the best number of treatments for you. When further rejuvenation or symptom relief is needed, a maximum of 5 treatments can be undertaken. Clinical studies have shown that improvements in vaginal health and satisfaction with the treatment can last up to 24 months, although benefits start to decline between 18-24 months.
