How Morpheus8 Works

The treatment combines both microneedling and radiofrequency technologies, both of which work to create a controlled trauma. Microneedling creates a ‘micro-trauma’ in the skin, stimulating the healing response, whilst radiofrequency uses heat to ‘shrink wrap’, tighten and lift the skin. Both treatments trigger the body’s natural healing mechanisms of collagen and elastin production. The Morpheus8 ‘injects’ the radiofrequency energy into the skin with lots of tiny needles, and the depth of the needles used can be adjusted depending on the area of skin being treated. For resurfacing the needle depth is smaller to enable us to work in the epidermis (the outer layer), for skin tightening it’s a little deeper to work in the dermis (the middle layer of the skin) and for contouring, the needles can be adjusted to reach as far as the subdermal tissue, which is the deepest layer of the skin. In effect, by combining the two technologies together, Morpheus8 gives you two skin resurfacing treatments in one, with enhanced and much faster results!

Frequently Asked Questions on Morpheus8:

We aim to answer all your questions before your treatment.  If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us or book a consultation to discuss your personalised treatment.
Is the procedure painful?
A specially formulated topical anaesthetic numbing cream is applied to the skin within the treatment area prior to treatment to ensure that the procedure is as comfortable as possible.
Who is the treatment for?
This non-invasive, relatively painless procedure is safe for all skin tones, with little to no risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is common with other skin resurfacing methods. Treatments can be performed on any area of the body which exhibits wrinkles, skin laxity, discolouration, acne scarring or stretch marks, however it is commonly used as a facial rejuvenation treatment on the lower face and neck. A consultation with Dr Grant is required prior to booking a Morpheus8 treatment to ensure that it’s both physically and clinically appropriate for you.
How many treatment sessions are required?
We recommend that patients have at least three Morpheus8 treatment sessions spaced 6-8 weeks apart in order to see optimal results, however timescales and the number of sessions required for each patient will vary depending on the individual and their desired results.
Is there any downtime?
You can return to your normal daily activities straight away. Patients may experience erythema (redness) and slight swelling which will gradually fade over the next few days. The skin may also feel tight and warm. Full aftercare information will be provided by your practitioner. A follow up appointment is booked for 8 weeks following your final Morpheus8 treatment session.
