One of the great perks of my role here at RejuvaMed Health & Wellness is that I am constantly learning about the largest organ in the human body – our skin, and the importance of looking after it. I hear a lot about the importance of a good skin care routine and, as mentioned in my previous blogs, how crucial an SPF can be to reduce signs of aging. However, even with all of this we still need to treat our skin every now and again, right?! One of my all time favourite treatments is the HydraFacial as I know it does wonders for my skin. There are six steps to this treatment and all leave my skin feeling fabulous afterwards.
Step one: Lymphatic Drainage
I think this step is my favourite step because it is so relaxing and a brilliant way to start the treatment. With the use of suction the toxins under the skin are moved towards lymph nodes where they are naturally flushed out of the body. This helps to increase the circulation and blood flow meaning more oxygen is brought to the cells of the skin. Fresh lymph can also be circulated which restores hydration whilst toning and firming the skin.
Step two: Cleansing and Exfoliation
This step gently removes all dead skin cells that may have accumulated over time, revealing healthy new skin beneath. At the same time a serum is delivered to the skin to help cleanse and nourish those cells!
Step three: Brightening Agent
A solution containing glycolic and salicylic acid is introduced to the skin to loosen the debris within the pores whilst brightening the overall appearance.
Step four: Extraction
This is the most satisfying step! Using suction, all the black heads and debris within the pores are extracted and impurities are drawn out. This leaves your skin feeling fabulous knowing that your pores are now empty and clean! You can even see the results in the tube at the back of the machine – eeek!
Step five: Hydration
A solution containing hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, peptides and multi-peptides is delivered to the skin. With HydraFacial, this solution does not just sit on the top of the skin, but is delivered into the skin via the recently cleaned pores. This leaves the skin feeling replenished, hydrated and plumped.
Step six: Rejuvenation
Infra-red lights are placed onto the skin to reduce redness as well as further stimulate collagen production. These lights also stimulate vitamin D production which leave your skin glowing!
This deeply relaxing treatment always leaves my skin glowing and smooth. I generally don’t wear make-up after the treatment for days and my friends always comment on how healthy, bright and alert I look. The HydraFacial is definitely an experience that I would recommend to everybody even if it is just a one off before a night out!
