Spider veins, or thread veins as they are also known, are a common occurrence on the legs and can be caused by a variety of factors. Although often considered unsightly to those who have them, they are considered as a cosmetic condition rather than vascular, and for that reason their treatment is not usually available on the NHS. Our consultant vascular surgeon Mr Vittorio Perricone offers treatment for spider veins which include microsclerotherapy, foam sclerotherapy and phlebectomies (avulsions).
